Research Project:

Homology Search

Homology, in the narrow sense, is the correspondence between evolutionarily related genes (DNA or proteins). Therefore, identifying homologies in large sequence (genomic) databases is central to biological research. Homology search therefore addresses the design and analysis of effective and efficient algorithms to discover relevant similarities between portions of large genomic sequences.
