I note that Samuel Beckett, born in Ireland and raised speaking English,
achieved some of his greatest effects by deliberately choosing to write
in French. While copying code and playing with it gives one a firm base
from which to conduct exploration, reimplementing it in a different
manner tests depth of understanding. But I agree that one should really
have a good reason to deviate from PLAI. I just didn't want to let the
notion that PLT match might be useful in this context (and many others)
go unsupported. --PR
