That's the problem -- net/url sends a line like:

  GET  HTTP/1.0

which is bogus, according to the HTTP RFC -- I fixed it to use "/" if
the path is empty, following what the RFC says:

  Note that the absolute path cannot be empty; if none is present in
  the original URI, it must be given as "/" (the server root).
