Dear CPNA members,
after a busy fall semester, your steering committee has reached a couple
of decisions regarding the different offices and officers that we will
have in the next year. Details can be found under 'Meetings' on the CPNA
webpage (http://www.cs.brown.edu/people/sello/CPNA/).
With respect to the constitution, we finalized the changes that you had
requested at the inaugural meeting, and the document is now being
reviewed by a legal council before it is brought back to you for
ratification. Have a look at the current draft under 'Statutes and
By-Laws' on our webpages. Note that, upon your majority request at the
inaugural meeting, the various offices that were orginally part of the
constitutional structure have moved to the 'Policies and Procedures' which
can now be changed flexibly as the SC sees fits. You also requested that
we should not have to lose a good officer (such as the Industry Liaison,
for example), just because the officer cannot be re-elected into the SC
anymore. Consequently, the restriction that officers must be elected
members of the SC was dropped, but of course they report to your elected
representants in the SC. Your officers are now working out their agendas
for 2008 which we will post as soon as they are set.
Merry Holidays to you all, and a Happy New Year 2008!
Meinolf.
