switching to IEEE formatting hurts. i've done all of the space cheats i'm comfortable with at this time, and we're still about a page over. please look at things you think we can cut -- e.g., paragraphs we don't need, figures that are redundant, etc -- and be very careful when adding new text. we don't need to go overboard in the related work, etc.
