Message-ID: <4A17FFF2.8030805@arrl.net> Hey Gang, We need communication volunteers for the Patriot Triathlon on June 20th. I will be setting up the HAMCOW the night before as our net control station. I will have a few bunk spaces available if you prefer to stay over night. The event starts early and we need a few operators to be in position by 7AM, so early arrival on site is a must. The event consists of a 1.2 mile swim, 58 mile bike ride, & 13.1 mile run. We need operators mostly on the bike ride and running courses. Check out the Patriot Triathlon web page for a cool video of last years event. Most assignments should only require a 5 Watt HT, and of course a gain antenna and spare battery are preferred for reliability. If you plan to volunteer, please contact me at n1joy@arrl.net, or Tony Duarte (N1XRS) at tdduarte@comcast.net. I hope you can join us for another fun event! I want to stress how important our job is at these events. At last years race we had a bike rider go down, was injured, and had to be taken by ambulance to the hospital. Not only did the Hams get the call in for the ambulance, but we also relayed what info we had to the riders family and escorted them off the grounds so they could meet their injured family member at the hospital. I felt bad for the rider but also felt good that we had an important role in getting his family to the hospital very quickly. SEE YA!! Roland - N1JOY Date: June 20th, 2009 Time: Race starts at 7AM, but please arrive around 6:30 AM for your assignments.
