Aug. 29th & 30th.. Message-ID: <4A7D9444.90300@arrl.net> Hi Everybody, We're 3 weeks away from the Cranberry Trifest and we need quite a few Ham Radio volunteers for this event. This is a 2 day event on August 29th & 30th. Please consider volunteering your time for this fun event. Each day's race should be finished up early enough that you can get home in time for supper. I can be reached directly at n1joy@arrl.net, or any time on my cell phone at: (617)-839-9081. The after race food is always great, and we get a free event T-Shirt too. The HAMCOW will be our net control station, APRS will be used for tracking the lead racers, and we need operators all along the running and bicycle courses to provide communications at the water stops and check points. I will be setting up the HAMCOW the night before the event (Friday Aug. 28th) and several of us will be camping over the weekend at the site. Please consider joining us for the over night stay as we will have plenty of room for a few tents. If you are interested in volunteering, please RSVP and let me know which day(s) and I will add you to my list of volunteers. Thanks!! Roland - N1JOY ********* From the event organizers: You've probably heard of the Cranberry Country Triathlon... a beautiful venue, great course and fabulous post race BBQ. This year we've decided to add a sprint distance triathlon and a kids duathlon to the same weekend so that you can include your family in one of the most popular races in New England. We're calling it Cranberry Trifest and we want you to be a part of it. Read on for details, but the essentials are: * *WHEN*: August 29th and 30th * *WHERE*: The Ted Williams Camp in Lakeville, MA (42 miles south of Boston) * *WHAT*: Sprint tri (9:00AM) and kids duathlon (12PM) on Saturday, August 29th; Olympic distance tri (8AM) on Sunday, August 30th * *TO REGISTER*: Click here for the sprint or Olympic and click here to register for the kids duathlon (age 7-14). Take note... the /sprint and Olympic are both expected to sell out!/ Cranberry Trifest will be the most ambitious weekend of racing we've ever offered and we're excited to bring it to you. In addition to three great races you'll also find a festive atmosphere with a DJ, live music (on Sunday), valuable giveaways, and food and refreshments after all races. Cranberry Trifest 2009 will feature a vendor expo on both days, the USAT Northeast Regional Club Championship, a matchup of collegiate clubs, performance awards for the fastest swim, bike and run splits and the crowning of the inaugural King and Queen of Cranberry Trifest. Excited to race? Consider registering for the Cranberry sprint or Olympic as part of the American Cancer Society's Charity Runner Program, the official charity of Cranberry Trifest 2009. The Charity Runner program allows you to make your miles more meaningful by dedicating your efforts to the fight against cancer. Click here for more details on the Charity Runner Program. We hope you join us for what promises to be a fun weekend that celebrates the multisport lifestyle. And if you can't race, but still want to be part of the action lend a hand as a volunteer! A list of jobs and registration can be found with a click here (all volunteers receive a great technical athletic shirt and a free pass to the post-event meal). Message-ID: <4A914837.4080300@arrl.net> Hi Everybody, We're less than 1 week away from the Cranberry Trifest and we need a few more Ham Radio volunteers for this event, especially on Sunday. This is a 2 day event on August 29th & 30th. Please consider volunteering your time for this fun event. Each day's race should be finished up early enough that you can get home in time for supper. If you can only spare a few hours, then we have some assignments that will finish up even earlier! The after-race food is always great (Catered food is on Sunday only), and we get a free event T-Shirt too. Here is the link to the Cranberry Trifest web page: http://www.cranberrycountrytri.com/ The HAMCOW will be our net control station, APRS will be used for tracking the lead racers, and we need operators all along the running and bicycle courses to provide communications at the water stops and check points. I will be setting up the HAMCOW the night before the event (Friday Aug. 28th) and several of us will be camping over the weekend at the site. Please consider joining us for the over night stay (Friday and/or Saturday) as we will have plenty of room for a few tents, and possibly a spare bunk or two inside the HAMCOW. I'm providing the BBQ grille, so you can pack a cooler and we'll have some great Ham Radio camaraderie after the race. What's needed? A 2 Meter HT at minimum, but many of our course assignments would be better off with a mobile radio as we'll be operating on Simplex and the Fairhaven repeater. Even an HT on a good external antennas will work well. The Sunday bike course puts some of the checkpoints pretty far away from Net Control and the repeater, so 50 Watts would make things more reliable. This is a rain or shine event. If you are interested in volunteering, please RSVP and let me know which day(s), and I will add you to my list of volunteers. The race is based out of Lakeville, MA, just a couple of minutes off of Rt. 140. I can be reached directly at n1joy@arrl.net, or any time on my cell phone at: (617)-839-9081. Thanks!!
