From aa1pl at cox.net Tue Apr 14 17:42:10 2009 From: aa1pl at cox.net (aa1pl@cox.net) Date: Tue Apr 14 17:42:27 2009 Subject: [76] 76 repeater Message-ID: <20090414174210.X7WBP.386715.imail@eastrmwml30> Hello all The 146.76 repeater is off the air. I shut it down on Monday due to long periods of noise that was keeping the repeater keyed up. When I later tried to turn the repeater back on, it would not respond to the remote commands. It is stuck in the "knowck-down" state until one of us from the board of directors can get up to the repeater site and check things out. We are slowly working on building a new 76 repeater but I'm not sure when it will be ready. In the mean time, our other repeaters are available including: 146.94 repeater in Cumberland . PL of 67.0 is required. 223.76 repeater in Scituate, no PL is required. 447.425 in Scituate (no PL required) and 443.850 in Exeter, PL 141.3. These two UHF repeaters are linked together. Of course there are plenty of other repeaters in RI that are available for your use, including the KA1RCI repeater network and 146.700. Thank you for your patience. -- Peter Harrison AA1PL Hope Valley, RI From paulrollinson at sbcglobal.net Fri Apr 17 09:12:29 2009 From: paulrollinson at sbcglobal.net (paulrollinson@sbcglobal.net) Date: Fri Apr 17 09:13:12 2009 Subject: [76] WA1Y Message-ID: <477F0DFC12474A1BA0AD57289E05F7AD@Dadscomputer> Good morning all, I'm trying to contact WA1Y, John but his e-mail kicked back. This event seems to grow every year, and hopefully you can get on the air and make a few contacts. Check out the NEQP web page for the contest rules, and the many awards that you could possibly win for participating and submitting your log. http://www.neqp.org Try getting on for even a few hours, and you may be activating one of the rare New England counties and may suddenly find yourself being on the receiving end of a QSO Party pileup! I also want to remind everybody that the BCRA and "Team HAMCOW" will again be on Martha's Vineyard set up next to the Gay Head Lighthouse. You can follow our progress at http://hamcow.net. I will try to keep things up to date on the web throughout the weekend. Last year "Team HAMCOW" placed 5th in New England in the club category, which is great considering some of the club entries are done with multiple members running their home stations for a cumulative score. We were portable!! This years setup is the most robust ever, the HAMCOW is in great shape for its second voyage to the island, and the operators are lined up to bang out some contacts! And most important, the food will be abundant. Let's hope for good weather, light winds, and good DX. I hope to hear you on the air. SEE YA!! You can keep an eye on our progress at http://hamcow.net. I should be posting regular updates throughout the weekend on the web page. We have added a new feature to our contest logging; real time online web lookup! You can now make a contact with us, and follow the link on the HAMCOW web page and see if you are in our contest log. This should stay working as long as our Internet connection stays alive. The online lookup can also be a good indicator of where we are operating at the time. The band status bar at the bottom will be green for the bands we are currently working. All I ask is to please be respectful and only access the web page when you make a contact as our Internet bandwidth into the trailer may be marginal. This logging web page is not on some super server, but the actual HAMCOW logging server inside the trailer and being fed off a cellular air card. The NEQP Dates & Times are: *Date:* First full weekend of May (May 2-3, 2009). *Contest Period:* 2000Z Saturday until 0500Z Sunday (4pm EDT Saturday until 1am EDT Sunday) and 1300Z Sunday until 2400Z Sunday (9am EDT Sunday until 8pm EDT Sunday). NEQP Contest Rules: http://www.neqp.org/rules.html I hope to see you in the logs, especially during the NEQP! Thanks! Roland - N1JOY
